TimTam Power Massager v1.5 Review
TimTam has introduced an updated version of its handheld massager, adding a retractable threaded shaft, which allows you to easily adjust the angle to reach different muscle groups. While this is a nice upgrade, it is still far louder than competing models such as the Theragun PRO.
Let's take a look at the upgraded TimTam to figure out how it works and to see if it will fit your needs.

Is the TimTam Massager Powerful Enough?
Firstly, immediately after powering this on and applying the massager to your body, you notice the raw power of this device. It was always known for its power, and the newest model doesn't disappoint there.
Secondly, I started off by applying some light hand pressure into my muscle, and I never really needed to press in further, as the percussion power was plenty. For the sake of the review, I did try pressing in further, but I didn't keep doing so for long because it wasn't necessary.
Overall, the power aspect is a plus, but it is much louder compared to some of its competitors, which are just as powerful if not moreso, but also quieter.
I would like to point out here that everyone will feel or perceive the power differently. Rather then just going off of my opinion, here are three other Recreation of LA staff member's opinions as well.
This will give you a better sense of the power range you can expect from this massage gun.
TimTam Power Rating
In conclusion, the graph above shows that everyone who tested the TimTam respected its power, giving it an average rating of 8.
I personally rated the TimTam a 8 for power. The power was so great that you didn't need to stay in one spot too long or press into the device to feel its effect. This is ideal for those who need to treat multiple areas and for those who might fatigue easily when using other devices.
How does the TimTam feel on your Back?
Rather than just describing the power of the TimTam to you, I've also included the below descriptions for the feeling it gives you when used on different body areas.
Back: While I could reach my own traps with little effort, once I had a buddy use it on my traps and lower back, I was even more impressed. It really loosened up my extremely tight traps and my back in general. Just make sure you avoid the spine and shoulder blades! The noise is also pretty annoying while near your ears, to be frank.
Legs: Although I was able to easily apply it on my quads and calves, for my glutes, hips and hamstrings I needed a partner to help reach them. This was a pleasant experience, if not intense. To be sure, this is where the power is so valuable, because you can really dig in deep into areas with greater muscles development.
Front Shoulders, Forearms: I thought it did a great job on both of these areas, I could paint over them like a paint brush and feel the positive effects without much effort.
Accessory Options
If you plan on taking this massager to athletic events, locker rooms or just on business travel, the good news is it comes with a nice carrying case. Some other handheld massagers do not include a case, so that is a $50 savings right off the bat.
Moreover, the TimTam also is compatible with up to six attachment heads, including a hot attachment, a cold attachment and a blade shaped design, which they are calling the Recovery Blade. Additional purchase is required for these heads. This is the only handheld massager that I've heard of that offers a heated or cold tip, or a blade.
- Standard round tip: included with the TimTam, which makes sense because it is the most all around tip. It is a good balance between the flat and the pointed tips.
- Flat metal warmup tip: This attachment felt great on my chest and quads, and is a little less intrusive than the trigger tip, so I see why they call it a warmup tip.
- Pointed metal trigger tip: Simulates a therapist's thumb. This really gets deeper than the round ball attachment and the flat tip. It is great for treating stubbornly tight sore spots.
- 2 plastic hot tips, 2 plastic cold tips: Using heat to warmup or frozen surface to cool down is next level for a handheld massager. This is a neat feature.
- Recovery Blade: this attachment looks like it would help hit deeper into larger athletes or specific body areas with deeper muscle development.
Battery Life
First off, the 30 minute battery life isn't a big deal if you're using this for personal use. Secondly, it is so powerful that I regularly used it for 2-3 minutes any one session without needing to use it any longer. Thirdly, the nice thing is they do sell backup batteries. If you're a coach looking to use this device on your team, I suggest getting an extra battery.
Lastly, the charging port is standalone, so you could swap out batteries pretty easily and keep using it while the other battery charges.

Is a TimTam Massager Worth it?
After reviewing the TimTam, I would say that purchasing a TimTam is worth it if you want a powerful handheld massager that is easy to transport. However, if you need to consider noise, you might want to consider other options, such as the Theragun PRO.
- Targets Multiple areas: The TimTam works great on many different areas of the body, from the traps to calves. It shines on the quads, hamstrings and glutes, due to its power.
- Lightweight and Portable: For those who travel often or need to take this to athletic events, this is the massager for you. It comes with a carrying case and that helps when taking it from place to place.
- Cool and Heat Options: If you like heated and cooled massages, this is the handheld massage gun for you. It has the option to go hot or cold, unlike its competitors.
